I’m Jonathan Vanderoost, founder of NeverGiveUp SRL in Belgium. For over 20 years, I have helped organizations design, develop and operate their platforms. I stay close to the code and to what actually happens in production.

Passion before titles
I have been coding since the Commodore 64. As a child, I took things apart to understand how they worked. That curiosity still drives me to explore complex, distributed systems, investigate root causes and debate ideas. I keep coding and continually learning.
From development to architecture
My path has taken me from .NET developer to senior developer, Tech Lead, Team Lead and architect. It helps me connect the constraints of code, the needs of a team and the goals of an organization. I take responsibility for my decisions and make them understandable.
Platforms at scale
I manage platforms processing several million transactions per day. Performance and security guide my decisions: every millisecond saved counts. My expertise spans .NET, Azure, Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, API gateways and gRPC, through to SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Couchbase and NoSQL databases.
Security, observability and automation
OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and SSO for large organizations; rate limiting, IP allowlisting and audit logs. I account for GDPR and ISO considerations in technical decisions, and use Datadog and OpenTelemetry to understand production systems. PowerShell, scripting, Azure DevOps CI/CD and Octopus Deploy support automated releases.
AI with the same sense of responsibility
I explore applied AI, model and API integration in .NET and Azure applications, and AI-assisted development. Output quality, privacy, access controls, latency and cost are part of the evaluation.
Learning, sharing and debating
An EPHEC lecturer since 2008, I teach service-oriented architecture, web development and advanced client/server applications. I also speak at events such as API Days, Dev Days and Microsoft Innovation Center. I love sharing what I learn and debating ideas to build better answers.
Microsoft background
My background includes MCTS, MCPD, MCSD and Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications, along with membership of the Microsoft Extended Experts Team (MEET). The NeverGiveUp website lists the exams and areas of expertise.
